Dan Steffen Senior Pastor
Dan has had the privilege of serving in ministry since 1988 and was ordained in 1995. He joined the staff of Pure Heart in 2000. Dan has a Masters of Theology degree from Gateway Bible College. Before accepting his current position as Senior Pastor in June of 2005 Dan was the Associate Teaching Pastor.
Dan and his wife, Nicole, were married in August of 1998. Dan and Nicole have three children, Joshua, Luke and Abigail.
Lead Pastor - Next Generation
Mike started serving as the Student Ministries Pastor at Pure Heart in May 2013 and then started serving as the Lead Pastor of Children and Students in January 2016. He has been involved in student ministry since 2001 and has been leading worship since 2005. Mike graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Christian Studies with emphases in Youth Ministry, Bible, and Worship. He then went on to graduate from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 2012. Mike is passionate about serving the Church by creating an environment for students to connect with each other through meaningful relationships, to come alive in the Spirit, and to vibrantly live out their faith.
Mike has been married to Emily since 2006. They have three children, Maddy, Owen, and Leeland. Emily is also on staff at Pure Heart as the Worship and Arts Director for children and students.
Mark entered full-time ministry in 2000 after working over 15 years in the business world, as well as, owning his own business. He has a B.A. in Business Leadership and most recently served as a Project Manager and Department head for a local Telecommunications and Internet company. Prior to joining the staff at Pure Heart, Mark served in various leadership positions and on the board of a local church.
Mark and his wife Kellene were married in March of 1991 and have two children Victoria and Stephen.
Bryan grew up in Colorado in a wonderfully loving family of six. He began playing music when he was eight years old and knew that music would be a big part of his life. He studied Engineering at the University of Colorado. He was employed for ten years by Rockwell International, working in the field of metallurgy and as a technical writer assigned to the U.S. Department of Energy. His passion for music continued as he was playing in a country-rock band in night clubs throughout Colorado.
In 1993 Bryan answered the call to full time ministry and moved to Phoenix to become the Worship Pastor at Pure Heart. Bryan met his wife Megan at his brother’s wedding and it was love at “second sight”. They have three wonderful children; Zachary, Hannah and Lacey.
Lead Pastor of Connect/Grow
Rachel was born and raised in Phoenix and has been attending Pure Heart since 2002. She began serving as an usher in 2003 before accepting a part time position as Auditorium Coordinator in June 2004. Rachel accepted the position of Director of Connecting in March 2005. As of March 2011 Rachel has become an Ordained Pastor for Pure Heart Christian Fellowship. Before entering full time ministry she was a property accountant for 10 years with CB Richard Ellis.
Rachel has been married to David since January 1993. David and Rachel have been blessed with three children, Zachary, Breionna and Madison.
Pastor of Community Development
Tracey serves as the Pastor of Community Development at Pure Heart Church where she over sees all of their local community initiatives in partnership with numerous community organizations. She is also the Executive Director of School Connect where she creates dynamic partnerships among faith, business, government and non-profit organizations in support of local schools. She is a member of the Mayor’s Youth & Education Commission, AZ 21st CCLC Vision Team, District 1 Interfaith Council, the Movement Day Executive Council, the Global Leadership Team and a Pinnacle Forum Partner. Tracey is married to David and has 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
Pastor of Worship
Zachary has always had a love for music; he started serving on the Youth Worship Team at Pure Heart while a student. Graduating from Arizona Conservatory For The Arts & Academics, he moved on to attend Arizona State University on a full-ride scholarship pursuing a degree in Business-Marketing. Zachary and Kendra were called to serve and grow at Valley Life Church from 2011-2013. Serving as worship leaders; Zachary was in a pastoral internship as well as serving on the worship team. In March of 2013, Zachary and Kendra made Pure Heart their home church. Zach came on full time in early 2013 as the Worship & Arts Technical Director and started as Worship Pastor in early 2017. Started a family in December 2016 bringing baby Ezekiel (‘Zeke’) into the world.
Pastor of Life Groups
Brian started serving as a youth pastor in 1994. Since then he has served as a Junior High, Senior High, and College pastor. Brian has a passion for summer camp ministry and spent 12 years in various counselor and director roles at Montlure Camp in Greer, Arizona. He also spent 2 years working abroad in missions with the Continental Singers. In addition to serving the church Brian spent 13 years working in retail management for Walgreen’s and Berean Christian Stores. Brian received his B.A. in American & Religious Studies through ASU West in 2005 and his M.A. in Pastoral Counseling through Liberty in 2012.
Brian and his amazing wife, Cheresse, have been married since 2000 and have 2 incredible children, Kaylee and Andrew. The family has attended Pure Heart since January 2009.
Pastor of Wellness
Todd started serving as Director of Health and Wellness in 2010. Todd has a passion for people to know the truth about the Spirit, Soul and Body. He has spent the last 25 years pursuing and teaching the truth of all three. He and his wife Terri owned their own health club for 8 years. In addition to serving the church Todd spent 12 years as Western Regional Manager for Bridgestone and Michelin Tire servicing the copper mining industry.
Todd and Terri, have been married since 1993 and have attended Pure Heart since 2010.
Pastor of Prayer Development
Paul began ministry in 1978. He has served as a Youth Pastor, church planter, Senior Pastor, and since 2000 has served as a Prayer Pastor. He graduated from Ozark Christian College and earned his Masters from Pepperdine University.
He is the author of the book, Threshold: Transformational Prayer; Transformational Prayer Leadership. Paul specializes in helping churches develop in prayer ministry and supporting people as they get comfortable with prayer.
He collects antique tools and has a 54 GMC pickup that he is restoring.
Paul and Annie have been married since 1980 and have three grown and married sons. All of the family members are believers and their 7 grandchildren make life richer.
Pastor of Discipleship
Roger responded to Jesus’ invitation at sixteen. Since then, he has desired to nurture an ever-deepening relationship with God and find ways he can be part of God’s Kingdom story. His place in God’s story has taken many different shapes over the last 50 years: sharing Jesus’ love at Portland State University, working as a hospital orderly, sorting packages at UPS during the 70’s, and accepting a position as a pastor in 1980. Since then, Roger, and his wife, Sharon, have served in four different churches. Roger graduated from Portland State University, and later from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary.
Roger and Sharon married in 1974 and have four amazing children: Josh, and his wife, Melaine; Shannon; Matt, and his wife, Roxy; and, Bethany, and her husband, Clint. Nine delightful grandchildren fill their lives with joy and energy. Having an empty nest was not part of God’s Kingdom story for them, and in 2002, Roger and Sharon became adult foster care providers and invited Janice and Jenny to live with them. God continues to open opportunities for Roger and Sharon to serve His Kingdom. They both love helping individuals who are seeking a deeper relationship with God. Roger and Sharon have attended Pure Heart since 2011.
Pastor of High School / Young Adults
Chris started serving as the Student Ministries Pastor at Pure Heart in December 2016. He has been in full time youth ministry since 2011. Chris graduated from South Carolina school of leadership in 2011 and went into youth ministry at 20 years old
Chris is passionate about creating environments for students to experience meaningful relationships and to experience God in a life changing way.
Chris has been married to his wife Connor since 2012. They have two beautiful girls a hairless cat named Chamber and an English bulldog named Berthiaume (Birch- Um).
Outside of ministry and his family Chris is passionate about almost every sport. He lives in dangerous territory because he his favorite team is the Seattle Seahawks.
Pastor of Creative and Technical Arts
Matt moved from Kansas to Phoenix in 1997. He became a full time staff member at Victorious Christian Living International in 2001. There he did one on one discipling, taught spiritual growth conferences and ministered in prisons. After several years in ministry, he then worked in construction estimating and management. In 2011 Matt felt called to work in faith based film full time. In 2012, Matt began to work with the tech team at Pure Heart as a volunteer and serve in the videography ministry.
Now as the Pastor of Technical and Creative Arts, Matt oversees the visual / creative arts production team, website and tech booth volunteers. Matt and his wife Biviana have been married since 11/11/11 and his daughter Madison was born in 2015. Matt also holds a masters degree in Biblical Counseling.
Pastor of Children Ministries
Steve has been serving in various children's, youth, and missions ministries as a volunteer, intern, or pastor since 2002. He is an Arizona native; his parents, two of three brothers, sister, and their amazing families also living here in The Valley. He graduated from Hope International University in 2003 with a B.A. in Church Ministry with an emphasis in Youth Ministry, and minors in Bible and Christian Leadership. He joined the staff of Pure Heart as the Pastor of Children's Ministries in February of 2017.
Steve is passionate about the Church, families, and coming alongside people to empower them to achieve God's best for their lives.
Pastor of Pastoral Care
Pastor Bill and his wife Pam moved to Glendale in 2005 from southern California where he served as a Pastor and small business owner. Pastor Bill has over 45 years of experience in caring for God’s people in teaching, counseling and Pastoring.
Pastor Bill has also developed a ministry providing Chaplains and Leadership Training to businesses within the marketplace.
Bill and Pam have been married since 1966 and have two adult children and seven grandchildren.
Director of Information Technology
Joshua is one of four brothers and has been attending Pure Heart since mid High School. He began tinkering with electronics at a young age with the help of his father’s early interest in computers. This beginning interest took him from learning to solder in his bedroom to ASU for Computer Systems Engineering to finally graduating from ASU in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computing.
Joshua met his lovely wife here at Pure Heart in the young adults group and continues to serve with the Jr. High and High School group.
Director Of Counseling
Brenda joined Pure Heart Christian Fellowship in 2001. She began volunteering at the info booth and women’s ministry, facilitating support groups. Prior to coming to Pure Heart Christian Fellowship Brenda worked a s a crisis therapist and group therapist at a local psychiatric hospital. Brenda’s previous background includes healing prayer and prayer counseling and numerous classes in prayer. Brenda is a licensed clinical social worker and holds bachelors and master degrees in social work from Arizona State University.
Brenda has been married to Bob since 1982 and has two children, Rebecca and Thomas.
Emily started serving as the Worship and Arts Director in July of 2014. She graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2013, and is passionate about healthy students and families. Emily has led worship since 1999 in various capacities and desires to lead others into the presence of God through music. She loves to see the naturally passionate hearts of young people focused on God in a corporate worship experience, and is honored to facilitate that for the students of Pure Heart.
Emily has been married to her husband Mike since 2006, and together they have three children, Maddy, Owen, and Leeland.
Director of Prayer
Angel Grimes moved to the desert from Michigan in 2014 and began attending Pure Heart 2.5 years ago. Her pride and joy are her 3 children, 19 year old Destiny, 18 year old Destin, and 14 year old Mykeal. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Clinical Pathology; soon after the Lord drew her to help the vulnerable of our population. Angel felt the call of God to go back to college where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with a concentration in Families and Children with a behavioral health credential. Angel is currently an Intensive Community Case Manager working with the homeless, those with mental and emotional illness, SMI, disenfranchised youth, single parents, families, and substance abuse.
Angel has been serving as a leader in the youth ministry here at Pure Heart for the past year. Angel brings a deep passion for prayer to Pure Heart and she serves on the Altar Prayer team, the leader of the Saturday night Service Prayer team, Leader of the Single Parent prayer group, and a member of the Core Prayer Leader Team. Angel is thrilled to be a part of the Pure Heart staff as the Director of Prayer and working together with everyone to continue building His House of Prayer.
Director of Community Outreach
Amanda Baca Hall
Amanda has been working with kids for over 20 years. She grew up in Tucson, AZ and volunteered at church for VBS, Sunday School classes, and in the nursery. She started camping and volunteering at Montlure Camp in Greer, AZ when she was fifteen. At Montlure she counseled and co-directed for elementary, Jr. high and high school students. In 1998 her family moved to California. Amanda worked with Jr. High and High Schoolers, taking kids to Forest Home in Forest Falls, CA while attending The Village Church. She participated in a mission trip with Hope Unlimited in Sao Paulo, Brazil and continued to attend and volunteer for camp at Montlure. While driving back to California from camp, God asked her why she was driving back and planted the idea of moving to Phoenix. Amanda has been attending Pure Heart since 2010. In 2012 she started volunteering in 3rd Degree Ministries. In 2013 she started working in Pure Heart Childcare. She is now the Childcare and Elementary Director.
She has a daughter named Lilly who is in the third grade and loves helping her mom.
Director Of Global Outreach
Born and raised in Phoenix, Lupita has been attending Pure Heart since 2011. Instantly, she knew this was her church home and got plugged in by volunteering as a greeter. It was also then that she went on her first missions trip to Mexico with Pure Heart and where God planted a heart for missions within her. Her heart for missions continued to grow as she went to Mexico several more times with Pure Heart.
In September 2015, as God continued to work in Lupita's heart, God led her to leave everything behind to go on The World Race, an 11-month missions trip to 11 different countries where she got to love and share the Gospel. She traveled to Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Guatemala, El Salvador (extra), Honduras, and Nicaragua. Shortly upon her return home in July 2016, she began an internship with Pure Hearts' Local and Global Outreach. Within a few weeks, God then presented her with the opportunity to be on staff part-time as the Administrative Assistant for the Local and Global Outreach.
In January 2017, Lupita accepted to the privilege of working on staff full-time as the Director of Global Missions. Before going into full time ministry overseas, Lupita worked as a Staffing Coordinator for 8 years at a staffing agency and graduated from Grand Canyon University with a
Bachelor's in Applied Management. She continues to pursue her passions in art, working with women, and serving and loving people of all nations by fulfilling the Great Commission.
Early Childhood Director
Lisa and her husband, Curtis, began attending Pure Heart in February of 2011. After settling in, Lisa began serving in the Pure Kidz ministry leading fourth graders in August of 2012. She served weekly on Sundays and volunteering for Pure Kidz Wildlife Club in the spring of 2014. Lisa joined the staff as the Elementary Director for Pure Kidz in September of 2014.
Lisa and Curtis have two daughters Allison and Rachel. Lisa graduated from Illinois State University in 2008 receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Technology in 2011.
Food Pantry Director
Rosanne was born and raised in New York along with her two sisters and brother. She relocated from New York to Arizona in 2011.
Prior to relocating to Arizona, Rosanne was a long-time volunteer as a Donor Family Delegate with the New York Organ Donor Network. Once in Arizona, she joined Pure Heart in January 2015 and started serving in the food pantry shortly thereafter. She accepted the position of Food Pantry Director in February 2017.
Rosanne’s sons, Sean and Daniel, have passed on to God’s care; however, she is surrounded by her nieces and nephews with her heart belonging to her great nephew, Gabriel. She and Jim have been together for 48 years and counting.
Student Ministries Director
Alyssa has been attending Pure Heart since 2003 where she started in the children's ministry herself. She became very active in the youth ministry and has volunteered in the nursery and preschool. Alyssa graduated from Grand Canyon University in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies. She has a huge passion for the organization Young Life and is a Young Life leader at Ironwood high school; she has a big heart for being intentional with any age of students she comes in contact with. She became the Elementary Coordinator in October 2014 and was promoted to the Elementary Director in January 2016. In July of 2016 she accepted the position of Student Ministries Director.
Director of Technical Arts
Emily has served on our student ministries and adult tech team as a student in Next Gen. She has also branched out and experienced working in tech for various other churches. At the age of eighteen she took on the responsibility of becoming the the volunteer Next Gen Tech Director, and a student ministries small group leader. Emily also has experience working for the Arizona Cardinal’s Scoreboard Team, since 2014, doing both audio and tech work for them in July of 2016 she accepted the position as the full time Technical Arts Director.
Her and her husband Blake have been married since January 2016.
Resource Center Director
Glenda and her husband Cleve started attending Pure Heart in 1999 after moving here from Kenai Alaska. They were married in 1973 right out of High school and have 2 grown sons and a beautiful granddaughter!!.
In 2003 Glenda went on her first mission trip with Pure Heart, and was hooked. It soon became her passion and she has continued going on mission trips.
In 2007 she attended Gateway International Bible Institute and receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Leadership.
Late in 2014 God gave her a vision of a Resource Center at Pure Heart, and she is now the director of that Resource Center! Glenda has a heart to help those in need whether Globally or Locally
Director of Facilities
Born and raise in Southern California, we moved to Arizona in 1994. World traveler and musician. I have been attending Pure Heart Church for over ten years serving mostly on the worship team. I have worked in many trades and professions, earning trust from the owners and of co-workers I have worked for and with. I was enabled to facilitate and manage workers and the work load and to be productive in maintaining scheduling and deadlines. In all I have been through over the years, I know the Lord was preparing me for the position he has called me to at Pure Heart. I have a passion for serving where God calls me. I am blessed to be a part of the Pure Heart family and I am honored to serve as Director of Facilities.
I have been married for 25 years to an amazing woman who loves Jesus more than me and supports all I do. She loves me unconditionally and encourages me through prayer. We are blessed with three girls. I am also part of prison ministries, and we go where we are called by God to spread the gospel and encourage those who are incarcerated and their desire to know Jesus Christ.

Bree has lived all over the West Coast and in the “tundra," also referred to as New York, prior to settling in Phoenix with her husband Sean.
Her heart for youth and children has been a long-time passion of hers, as she has taught and mentored youth in various performing arts genres, worked with children in foster care and acted as a liaison between parents and case managers. In addition to this experience, Bree pursued a degree in Family and Human Development with the help of several academic scholarships and graduated from Arizona State University in 2016.
Bree came to Pure Heart in 2013 and has been serving in Student Ministries since 2014.
